Our Mission
The mission of Natural
Rocknobs of Canada (www.naturalrocknobs.com) is to
provide a daily, tactile reminder of our sacred connection
to, and dependence on, a healthy earth by providing
a wide selection of beautiful, natural, and durable
rocknobs and products. May every touch be an affirmation
of the sustainable choices we can make towards a healthy
ecosystem on our beautiful planet.
Our Story
Greetings.
My name is Maggie Hanna, the Stone Matron of Natural
Rocknobs of Canada, I am also the Mother of an amazing
young boy (pictured below), and in partnership with a wonderful
man. Family is most important to me. My work experience
includes 21 years as a professional geologist in both
mineral and oil and gas exploration. Five years ago
I made the transition from geology into my passion of
helping people do the heart level detective work needed
to remember the purpose and meaning of their lives,
what we call Life Mission. Feel free to check out www.transitionsbychoice.com
for more on that. I am also a GeoTran practitioner and
I highly recommend this work for anyone who wishes to
permanently and gently change the auto-pilot programs
that run most of our lives. Check out www.thewayoftheheart.com
for more on Life Mission and GeoTran. As I have followed
my Life Mission to my current calling, I missed working
with rocks and the earth, and that is why working with
Natural Rocknobs brings me such joy.
The idea for Natural
Rocknobs came in a meditation. Every
year since my son Scott was born, we have embarked
on our "Mother and Son Summer Camping Trip" into the
forests of Alberta and British Columbia, Canada. One
morning
in the summer of 2002, while camped beside the Kootenay
River in British Columbia, I was engaged in morning
meditation and practices while my son slept in
the nearby tent.
I felt called to do
the “Mother
Earth Meditation” on the pebbly beach beside
the river so I lay face down and began. It wasn’t
10 minutes later that, in an instant, the fully formed
plan for Natural Rocknobs dropped like a penny into
my mind – all the details in perfect clarity!
WOW! Nothing quite like that had ever happened to me
before. And the very beach I was lying on was a perfect
source for the kind of stones that were needed for
the project! So I began to gather them.
That is not to say that
I haven’t been skeptical about the whole experience
from time to time. I have had my doubts, challenges
and fears moving forward with this project.
Rocknobs were not a foreseen part of my Life Mission
definition. My life mission is to “Forward
planetary consciousness with respect to the integration
of Science
and Spirit, Ecology and Consciousness, and Life Mission
with Every Human Heart.”
I
now see how creating these stone knobs is a perfect
vehicle to carry the “Integration of Ecology and
Consciousness” part of my mission into the world.
The capital generated from this project is earmarked
to create a prototype eco-home.
I will be documenting this experience on film in the form of a 6-part mini-series so the the knowledge can be shared with everyone. It
will provide an integrated model of sustainable technologies
for people to experience how truly possible it is to
live a lifestyle that is elegant, beautiful, simple,
practical and gentle on earth’s resources.
To
make a long story somewhat shorter, I believe that
the profound way the Natural Rocknob idea was planted in
my mind is a sign that this is something I am called
to do. Gathering stones has evolved into a spiritual attunement practice offering service to, and asking permission from the beach and from each stone gathered. Holding a high intention for the work that each of these stones has offered to do has become an exercise in concentration on a higher ideal for us all.
And bonus – I
no longer miss rocks! I truly hope that you experience
these Natural Rocknobs as your own connection to the natural
beauty that surrounds us.

"We
must come to realize that others are also part of
our society.
We can think of our society as a body, with arms and
legs as parts of it. Of course, the arm is different
from the legs; however, if something happens to the
foot, the hand should reach down to help. Similarly,
when something is wrong within our society, we must
help. Why? Because it is part of the body, part of
us."

we are doing is just a drop in the ocean, but the
ocean
would be less because of that missing drop."
